Dulquer Salmaan, Rana Daggubati and Bhagyashri Borse dazzle fans at Global Village Dubai
Fans enjoyed an evening of energy, selfies and cinematic storytelling
DUBAI – Dubai’s Global Village came alive last night as the stars of the upcoming Tamil film Kaantha took to the Main Stage, electrifying fans with their presence.
Dulquer Salmaan, Rana Daggubati, Bhagyashri Borse, Samuthirakani, and director Selvamani Selvaraj greeted a sea of excited attendees in an interactive evening full of selfies, behind-the-scenes stories, and cinematic energy.
The event was held ahead of the film’s release on 14 November, offering fans a rare chance to see Indian cinema icons up close.
Kaantha cast at Global Village Dubai
Speaking on stage, Dulquer Salmaan reflected on the collaboration: “I have seen his growth as an actor, as a film personality, as an entrepreneur. I think it was Rana who brought this film to me first… In 2019, he called me and said, ‘Dude, I have heard a story like yours, you should listen to it, I think you will be rightful.’ I immediately liked it. At one point, 2-3 years back, we decided to produce this film together. I don’t think Kaantha would exist without both of us coming together as producers and actors. This is the first time a Malayalam production and a Telugu production are coming together for a Tamil film.”
Bhagyashri Borse addressed the audience warmly: “It’s so nice to be here today… Thank you so much for coming here and supporting the team. This film is made with so much love. You have to come on the 14th of November to understand why we love this film so dearly. I’m sure you’re going to fall in love with the film – it’s going to be a beautiful cinematic experience.”
Fans were treated to a lively evening filled with interactions and memorable moments, continuing Global Village’s tradition of hosting celebrity appearances, which have previously featured Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, and Keerthy Suresh.
Kaantha – the movie
Kaantha stars Dulquer Salmaan as TK Mahadevan, set against 1950s Madras. Alongside him, the cast includes Samuthirakani, Bhagyashri Borse, Rana Daggubati, and Ravindra Vijay. The film explores the strained relationship between a legendary director, Ayya, and the movie star he helped achieve fame, Chandran. The trailer hints at an intense mentor-protégé clash when Chandran renames Ayya’s female-centric film Shaantha to Kaantha, escalating tensions from bruised egos to physical confrontations.
Originally scheduled for release on 12 September, Kaantha was postponed to 14 November to allow Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra to continue its successful run. The trailer, released last Thursday, has already sparked curiosity among fans eager to see Dulquer Salmaan in a period drama setting and witness the film’s compelling narrative unfold.
